Amai Jukwa to be sued by the MDC-T for defamation

More trouble is on the horizon for the arrested former editor of the state-run Sunday Mail newspaper, after the MDC-T revealed that they plan to sue him for any defamation arising from his social media character, Amai Jukwa.
Edmund Kudzayi was arrested last week after the police and state agents raided his home and seized computers and other equipment, claiming he was Baba Jukwa. But Kudzayi said he was the complete opposite and was behind the Amai Jukwa online blog that denigrated opposition activists, especially the MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai.
MDC-T spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora revealed that the party is planning to take legal action against Kudzayi, who remains in remand prison facing charges of banditry, plotting insurgency, terrorism, sabotage and attempting to overthrow a legitimately elected government.
According to the Daily News newspaper, Mwonzora said the MDC-T cannot ignore Amai Jukwa because “some of the attacks on Tsvangirai were personal while some bordered on malice.” The paper also quoted some of the comments made by Amai Jukwa on the online blog, including one which said: “The whites know Tsvangirai is a half-wit, sex-crazed man that has nothing to offer.” Accused by both ZANU PF and the opposition, the former Sunday mail editor continues to deny having links to Baba Jukwa. He is also dealing with the arrest of his older brother Phillip, who faces the same charges after turning himself in to police on Tuesday. Both were remanded in custody to July 7th.
