A furious MDC-T MP in Bulawayo on Wednesday lost his temper and allegedly assaulted two district officials, who had organized a meeting in his constituency without his knowledge. The MP, Anele Ndebele of Magwegwe, was infuriated by the chairman of Magwegwe district, Tonderai Nyamupingidza and Treasurer Ali Pembe, for organizing a ward meeting and failed to notify or invite him. Ndebele assumed the meeting was anything but a constituency feedback gathering as the two officials, Nyamupingidza and Pembe, are known to have campaigned for the MP’s rival in the party primary elections held earlier this year. Our correspondent in Bulawayo Lionel Saungweme, told us Ndebele, who was accompanied by four other people, physically assaulted the two officials and tore-off an MDC-T t shirt worn by Pembe, which was emblazoned with party president Morgan Tsvangirai’s face.‘Nyamupingidza and Pembe did not fight back but they’ve since reported the matter to the party and police. They both feel they didn’t do anything wrong and accused the MP of being misinformed in the constituency,’ Saungweme said.
